“Alternatives Beyond Psychiatry”: 2012 Conference Presenter Peter Lehmann

Philadelphia, PA:  Peter Lehmann will be presenting “Individual, organized and structural alternatives beyond psychiatry” at the ISEPP 2012 Conference.

Soteria, Crisis Hostel, Open Dialogue, Diabasis and much more reduce and avoid psychiatric violence and administration of psychiatric drugs and deliver pre-conditions to overcome crises sustainably. To abide the alternativelessness of the administration of psychiatric drugs, they like to ignore individual organized and institutional alternatives as well as structural measures (like advance directives or user-led research) toward implementing humane treatment. A change to the positive  presupposes to recognize the fact that when it comes to issues to do with      treatments that work, it is users/survivors of psychiatry themselves who are the most knowledgeable and informed.

Peter Lehmann was a founding member of the group that developed Runaway House, Berlin.  “Alternatives Beyond Psychiatry” is the latest book from Peter Lehmann Publishing (Berlin), a Publishing House orientated toward the interests of (ex-)users and survivors of psychiatry.
